THE RULES OF THE NATIONAL CONTEST IN ROMANIA


·    In Romania, the organizer of the International Contest “Young People in European Forests” is the National Forest Administration Romsilva;
·    The task of the contest is the promotion of European forest areas, the sustainable development in forestry and the biodiversity in European;
·    In Romania, the YPEF International Contest "Young People in European Forests" is addressed to pupils from forestry high schools, not more than 18 years at the beginning of the school year 2010/2011. The participants stand in teams of three pupils and they will answer to a set of questions established by the International Commission YPEF.
·    The participation in the Contest is voluntary and does not need to cover all the pupils from the high school.
·    The National Contest in Romania will be organized in two stages, as follows:
-    high school stage: will be organized in each forestry high school and will be supervised by an internal commission. At the end of this stage, will be declared the winning team that will represent the high school in the national stage;
-    national stage: the winning teams from the high school stage will attend the national stage at the National Forest Administration Headquarter. After this stage, according to the teams results the, National Contest Commission will chose the team that will represent Romania at the European Stage in Poland.
·    In order to organize the contest, each country participating in the contest prepared a material, focused on the following aspects:
a)    Forest characteristics and forest types;
b)    Forms of nature protection, such as National Parks and Nature 2000 sites;
c)    Typical, and exceptional flora and fauna species in forests;
d)    The organization of forestry.
·    Based on the aspects included in the material, each country prepared at set of 20 questions at least (four answers, of which only one correct). A set of 60 questions was also prepared by the YPEF International Contest Commission. These questions concern general issues of European nature and forestry.
·    In a meeting of the YPEF International Commission, was established by a draw two sets of questions for each country participating in the Contest. Each set of questions consist of 50 questions each (12 questions from the 60 questions prepared by the YPEF International Contest Commission and two questions from each set of questions prepared by the nineteen participating countries). Each team of participants in the National Stage Contest shall answer the same set of questions.
·    For the high school stage, the set of questions no.1 will be sent to each high school directly before the contest day. The set of questions no.2 will be used for the national stage.
·    The participants will learn for the Contest from the YPEF website www.ypef.eu, textbooks and other materials produced or accepted by the members of the YPEF International Committee or YPEF International Commission and distributed in all the countries that participate in the Contest.
·    The official language of the YPEF National Contest in Romania is English
·    The YPEF National Contest in Romania will be held in:
-    may 6, 2011 – the high school stage;
-    may 27, 2011 – the national stage.
