The seventh edition of the YPEF contest announced!

The YPEF International Commission announces the seventh edition of the international contest Young People in European Forests. National stages of the contest will be held between 1st of February and 15th of September 2017. The European Stage will be organized by Hungarian Forestry Association and will take place in Sopron, Hungary in the last week of September 2017.

          VI Edition of International Contest YPEF

On 28-30 September 2016 took place in Latvia the European Final of the VI edition of the   International Contest  YPEF. The best teams from Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Ukraine arrived to Jaunmokas Palace, where new international teams have been created.  The final games took place in LVM Natura park in Tervete.
     
     
     

Winners are:

1 place:  Evrim Düzenli from Germany, Kristīne Krastiņa from Latvia, Eszter Anna Váradi from Hungary;

2 place:  Rugilė Andrejevskytė from Lithuania), Mārtiņš Robežnieks from Latvi, Sylvya Pasca from Romania;

3 place:  Maximilian Bubna-Litic from Austria, Ioanna-Ariadni Kaneleti from Greece, Katarzyna Leszczyńska from Poland.

YPEF is testing the knowledge about forests and creativity of young people between 13 to 19 years. It will be organized in 10 european countries. To be won are prizes in kind and the winner team of the national stage will take part at the international Forest conference 2016, which takes place in Latvia this year. At this conference from 28th of September to 30th of September 2016 the winners of all participating countries come together to discuss the status and the future of european forests. Exciting forest activities and field trips will be part of the programme. More Info »

The National Stage Contest took place on 30^th of May 2016 at the Technical Forestry High School Bruck / Mur (Styria), Dr. Theodor Körnerstrasse 44, 8600 Bruck / Mur.

In Austria the Contest was organized by the Union of Austrian Foresters
The Contest language was Englisch.

The Contest has two parts:
1^st part: Test (answering a list of preapared questions about European forests)
2^nd part: short PP-presentation of „Different issues about Austrian Forest`s”

Participants are students from the - Forestry High School.

Winners are Maximilian Bubna Litic, Andreas Katzbauer and Alexander Höfer.

They will go in outumn, accompanied by members of the National Commission (Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Hintsteiner, Ing. Schweighofer and Ing. Baschny) to the International Contest in Latvia.

Lithuania. Thursday, 5^th of May at Aleksandras Stulginskis University Faculty of Forest Science and Ecology big crowd of young people, young forest friends were participating in already traditional (already sixth year in a row, with a great support from Ministry of Environment) National Stage of Contest Young People in European forests. This year 13 teams were participating and showed good knowledge about the topics they were prepared as a poster presentations, as well as the knowledge of materials they were studying for the second part of the contest – the test. Various topics and formal problems of the forest and the forestry were touched. To name some: forest protection, regeneration, biofuel, history of forestry, social aspects, biodiversity. After hard voting and double checking the test results, commission decided to give the highest points to  Rugilė Andrejevskytė, Danielius Krasauskas, Tomaš Savel team, leaded by teacher Jūratė Taučiuvienė. They were representing Meilė Lukšienė gymnasium from Marijampolis, Vilnius region.
